The aggregating anemone, or Anthopleura elengantissima, is the most abundant anemone found on the rocky shores of the Northeast Pacific coast. They exhibit symbiosis, and are the host to a photosynthetic algae which allows them to absorb sunlight.

They are able to reproduce both sexually and asexually, with adults releasing their eggs and sperm into the water, combining to form a zygote, following by a free swimming larva, then settling on intertidal rock. These young anemones are then able to clone themselves through binary fission. That's right, once they settle into their new home, they can sit back, relax, soak up the sun, and bud off a clone.
